About This Event

Join Reb David and a special guest for an evening of music and musings! This month we welcome the delightful and talented Dr. Assaf Suberry to lead Yeminite and Sephardi Music. Dr. Assaf Suberry is a musician and social gerontologist whose work explores how music creates connection, healing, and community across generations. A faculty member at the Erickson School of Aging Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Assaf researches the role of the arts in fostering well-being. His projects examine how shared musical experiences can deepen belonging, support older persons, and strengthen intergenerational ties. Assaf is delighted to join the Am Kolel community for an evening of song, stories, and cultural celebration. Drawing from his own musical heritage and from Jewish musical traditions—including Yemenite, Sephardic, and contemporary Israeli song—Assaf brings an approach that blends scholarship with heartfelt communal practice.
