Join Am Kolel for a special Juneteenth Shabbat as we welcome Kohenet Harriette Wimms for a meaningful conversation on “Joy as an Act of Resistance,” woven together with reflections on her experience as a Jew of color and what Juneteenth means to her personally and spiritually. Together, we will explore themes of freedom, resilience, identity, and community through the lens of Shabbat. This evening will also mark Rabbi Miriam’s final Shabbat with Am Kolel. We will take time to celebrate her contributions to the community and express our gratitude for all she has brought to the organization. Our gathering will be a community potluck dinner. Please bring a dairy or vegetarian dish to share. Kohenet Dr. Harriette is a Jewish community convener, liminal-space holder, spiritual entrepreneur, ritualist, lecturer, and social justice advocate for people marginalized by power and oppression. She is a Maryland licensed clinical psychologist and founder of The Village Family Support Center of Baltimore, where she provides child and family therapy, educational advocacy, and specialized supports to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ community members. Kohenet Dr. Harriette is the founder and executive director of the Jews of Color Mishpacha Project, and the Community Relationship and Jews of Color Engagement Steward at Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh.
