Founded by young professionals, Sephardic Heritage International in DC (SHIN-DC) is a pluralistic 501(c)(3) organization that builds intercultural bridges and understanding, while raising awareness of Sephardic and other underrepresented Jewish heritages, and the cultures, arts and history of the Middle East, North Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, Greece, the Balkans, and Central and Western Asia. Through a focus on celebrating Sephardic and other underrepresented Jewish heritages and their potential for cross-cultural bridge building, we engage in cultural diplomacy by bringing together members of the diplomatic community, members of Congress, and diverse communities. That work has been officially recognized by the U.S. Congress. Board members Maurice Shohet, F. Afraim Katzir, Leila Levi, Alan Makovsky, Marguerite Adams, and Rabbi Dr. Elie Abadie (Senior Advisor, of SHIN’s Advisory Board), look forward to working together with you to develop and build essential intercultural bridges of awareness and understanding. We ensure that all of our Jewish voices, including Sephardic and Romaniote narratives, are being heard and represented worldwide.
