Queer Rosh Chodesh Group: Shevat

January 30 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Queer Rosh Chodesh Group will draw on the tradition of feminist Rosh Chodesh gatherings to explore the themes of the upcoming Jewish month through a queer lens. This gathering, led by Based-In DC’s Rabbi Avigayil Halpern, will take place monthly on or before Rosh Chodesh, the first day of the Jewish month, and is open to all queer-identified Jews in their 20s and 30s.

The Queer Rosh Chodesh Group is co-sponsored by Based-In DC and EntryPointDC and GLOE at the EDCJCC. You can come to just one, come every month, or whenever suits your fancy. This discussion is for all queer Jews – whether Torah study is a regular part of your life or you’re brand new to it, we want your wisdom in the conversation.

This month, we’ll talk about the holiday of Tu Bishvat – “the new year for the trees” –  and ways to connect to the Jewish calendar and year cycle. We’ll also eat yummy fruit!
