The Jewish History of Washington Walking Tour – Christmas Edition!

December 25, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$25
It’s back! For the third year in a row, join OTM’s guest guide Ami Greener on a walking tour about notable Jewish contributions to DC history on Christmas Day. This tour goes through the Judiciary Square and Gallery Place neighborhoods highlighting the stories of Jewish-American Washingtonians who made their mark.
Learn the answers to such questions as, who was the first US president to visit a DC synagogue while in office, and why he donated $10? Why did the first synagogue built in DC have wheels? Which historic synagogue was saved at the last minute from turning into a nightclub? And who were the first Jews to live in this new city on the Potomac?
This 2 hour tour begins at Hillel International at 800 8th Street NW and ends at the new Capital Jewish Museum. Contact Ami Greener at ami.greener@gmail.com if you are interested in entering the museum after the tour so that he can make an accurate reservation.
