Acclaimed author Thomas Mallon reads and discusses selections from his most recent book with famed broadcast journalist Scott Simon. An Evening with Thomas Mallon and Scott Simon Acclaimed author THOMAS MALLON reads and discusses selections from his most recent book, The Very Heart of It: New York Diaries, 1983-1994 (Knopf), which offers a personal account of his literary and romantic life in New York during the early years of the AIDS epidemic. Mallon's 10 books of fiction include Fellow Travelers (which was adapted into a Peabody Award-winning miniseries (Showtime) and an opera), Watergate, Henry and Clara, and Dewey Defeats Truman. He is also the author of eight books of nonfiction and the former literary editor of GQ, and a frequent contributor to The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, The Atlantic Monthly, and The American Scholar. The program will be moderated by SCOTT SIMON, host of NPR's Weekend Edition. An onstage interview with Mr. Mallon and Mr. Simon and a question and answer period will follow. The evening will conclude with a reception. Guests are welcome to bring copies of their books for them to sign.
