Join the National Building Museum, the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum, and March On! for a program exploring the remarkable partnership between Booker T. Washington, Julius Rosenwald, and thousands of local communities. Through film, exhibition, and conversation, discover how their collaboration helped build nearly 5,000 schools across the segregated South—and why their example of shared purpose and collective action can continue inspiring us today. The program includes film screenings (1 pm and 4 pm) of Aviva Kempner’s documentary Rosenwald at the Capital Jewish Museum; exhibition viewings at the National Building Museum; a moderated conversation and audience Q&A (6 to 8:30 pm) with an ASL interpreter; and an evening reception. Speakers include Eugene Robinson, Aviva Kempner, Stephanie Deutsch, and Kwesi Daniels, PhD. This evening is the closing program of the March On! Festival.
